Official Ceremony​(Cultural Performances)

The official ceremony will be hosted by the Expo and will be attended by delegations from Japan and the UAE. 
Following the flag raising and official speeches by representatives from Japan and the UAE, various performances will be presented to introduce the diversity of Japanese culture, including performances of Japanese taiko drums, Aikido, and Nanchu Soran dance by children.

JAPAN DAY Parade~EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN~​​

Along with attendants wearing the uniform of Japan Pavilion, a variety of performers, who will enliven Japan Day with their performances of Japanese taiko drums, Aikido and Shodo, will march through the Expo site dressed in traditional Japanese attire. The parade will express the rich culture of Japan, where the next Expo will be hosted in 2025, and will pass the baton as a hosting city from Dubai to Osaka and Kansai.

Welcome Event ~Japanese taiko drums~​

SHOTEN, a Japanese taiko drumming group founded in Dubai will perform their music. Feel the sense of unity created by the thunderous beats and dynamic rhythms of taiko drums.​

Welcome Event ~Japanese taiko drums~​

Welcome Event ~Nanchu Soran~​

Watch and enjoy an enchanting display of dance as elementary and junior high school students from the Japanese School in Dubai perform 'Nanchu Soran'. The dance will be performed to an updated version of the traditional Japanese folk song called 'Soran-bushi’.​

Welcome Event ~Aikido~​

Enjoy a masterful demonstration of Aikido ‘the art of peace’, by Cathy Darnell, Sensei 4th Dan (AAI), and members from Zanshinkan Aikido Dubai. In Aikido practice, there is a saying, "small conquers large". This traditional Japanese martial art redirects the force of an attack onto the assailants without hurting them through throwing and grappling techniques, and is also famous as a self-defense technique.​

Welcome Event ~Aikido~​

Welcome Event ~Sumi-e and Calligraphy~

Watch as an artist draws letters and pictures on a large sheet of Japanese Washi paper using only ink and water, combining the traditional Japanese ​culture of calligraphy called Shodo with the traditional Asian art of ink wash painting called Suiboku-ga.​
