The Japan External Trade Organization, or JETRO, is committed to respecting the personal information and protecting the privacy of all individuals who use the official website of the Japan Pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai (https://expo2020-dubai.go.jp, herein the Japan Pavilion Website).

The section below outlines how JETRO collects and handles the personal information you provide via the Japan Pavilion Website. Please note that by accessing and using the Japan Pavilion Website, it shall be construed that you have agreed to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

  1. In general, JETRO will not collect personal information, by which a customer is identifiable, such as names or addresses, when you visit the Japan Pavilion Website. Some services offered through the Japan Pavilion Website, however, require you to register personal information to receive or use such services. In such cases, prior to asking you to submit your personal information, JETRO will clearly specify the purposes of use of such information and will use the collected data only within the scope of such purposes. JETRO will not use your personal information without your consent for other purposes.

  2. If you would like to discontinue using any or all of JETRO's services you registered, or make changes to your registered information, you can do so at any time by following the applicable procedures.
  3. JETRO will not disclose personal information you provide JETRO via the Japan Pavilion Website to any third party, except under the following circumstances:
    • JETRO has your consent (when it is necessary to disclose your personal information to third parties, JETRO will always directly obtain your consent in advance or confirm your consent in advance through other means).
    • JETRO is required by law to disclose such information.
    • JETRO shares your personal information with a contractor or organization as is necessary. In such cases, it is JETRO’s policy to protect your personal information by concluding an agreement that obliges such a contractor to implement appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
    • Personal data is processed and reduced to individually unidentifiable statistical data, such as the number of users by region, industry, or age group.
  4. With the aim of improving usability, some of JETRO's services available via the Japan Pavilion Website collect information about your computer, by using "cookies". Also, no personal information stored in cookies during your visit to the Japan Pavilion Website will be sent to other websites. You can configure your browser to remove or reject cookies; however, depending on the particular cookie you reject, you may not be able to fully utilize JETRO's services.
  5. JETRO has appropriate measures in place against unauthorized accesses, leakage or alteration of personal information.
    • Regarding access to the server from outside, JETRO allows only the minimum protocols necessary for providing our services to pass through the firewall.
    • JETRO seeks to protect your personal information against unauthorized accesses using firewalls and virus detection systems.
    • JETRO uses the SSL protocol to encrypt and secure transmitted data.
    In any Internet environment, however, no data protection method or combination of methods can be guaranteed to be fail-safe. Please note that it is your sole responsibility and decision to provide us with your personal information, as JETRO does not guarantee that its measures and processes taken to protect such information when you communicate with JETRO via the Japan Pavilion Website are invulnerable.
  6. JETRO records information from users' access logs including IP addresses, access times and dates, referrers, accessed files and browser type. JETRO will also use "Web Beacon" technology in storing the data of access logs, while they are automatically stored in the servers. JETRO utilize the data of access logs only for purpose of improving Japan Pavilion Website, not for identifying individual users.
  7. JETRO cannot manage your personal information located on an external website created by private companies, public/private organizations, or individuals that is not under the control of the Japan Pavilion and to which the Japan Pavilion Website links. When you follow a link to an external website, you are leaving the Japan Pavilion Website and become subject to the privacy and security policies of the owner(s) of the external website, which may collect your personal information. JETRO recommends that you exercise caution over the handling of your personal information and review the privacy and security policy of such websites.
  8. Some pages in the Japan Pavilion Website may have another privacy policy prepared particularly for such pages and ask you to agree with the terms and conditions of such separate privacy policy prepared particularly for the pages. In the event of a conflict between the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy and those for such pages, the terms and conditions particularly prepared for such pages supersedes this Privacy Policy.
  9. When this Privacy Policy is revised or updated, JETRO will post the revised or updated Privacy Policy, including the effective date of the revision or update, on the Japan Pavilion Website. It shall be construed that you accept and agree with the revised or updated Privacy Policy when you access and use the Japan Pavilion Website for the first time after the publication of such changes.
